Long Bay Beach, Providenciales — Turks and Caicos. On the southeast shore of Providenciales, Long Bay is a quiet stretch of white sand where the water stays knee-deep for hundreds of metres. Steady trade winds and those calm, shallow flats have made it one of the best kiteboarding spots in the Caribbean, and on still days it is a perfect place to wade out into endless turquoise.

  • Best time to visit: Year-round; December to April is the dry season, and the trade winds that kiteboarders love blow strongest from late autumn to early summer.
  • Average temperature: About 27–31°C / 81–88°F all year, with warm, shallow water around 25–29°C.
  • Good to know: Long Bay's flat, knee-deep water stretches so far out that beginner kiteboarders can stand up almost anywhere.
