Playa La Entrega, Huatulco — Mexico. On Oaxaca's Pacific coast, La Entrega is a small, sheltered beach in Huatulco's Santa Cruz bay, where a coral reef lies just a few strokes from the sand and the water stays calm and clear. Its name recalls 1831, when President Vicente Guerrero was handed over to his captors here; today it is one of the gentlest swimming and snorkelling beaches on the coast.

  • Best time to visit: November to May, the dry season with clear water and steady sun; June to October brings warm rain showers and greener hills.
  • Average temperature: Highs of about 30–33°C / 86–91°F year-round; the sea stays around 27–29°C.
  • Good to know: Bring a mask: the reef starts right off the beach, and calm morning water gives the best visibility.
