Jericoacoara, Ceará — Brazil. Stop 2 of Naomi and Camila's trip around the world. "Jeri" is a small fishing village turned beach town on Brazil's north-east coast, about 300 km west of Fortaleza, inside Jericoacoara National Park. The streets are sand, the way in is by 4x4 across the dunes, and every evening the whole village climbs the big dune to watch the sun go down over the sea.

  • Best time to visit: July to December is dry, sunny and windy; February to May is the rainy season, when the freshwater lagoons fill up.
  • Average temperature: About 27–31°C / 81–88°F all year, with warm sea water.
  • Good to know: Walk out to Pedra Furada, the natural rock arch, at low tide, and spend a day in the hammocks over the clear water of Lagoa do Paraíso.
