Benguerra is one of the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park off Mozambique's coast, with high white dunes, empty beaches and turquoise channels. The surrounding waters are home to dugongs, turtles and manta rays, and dhow trips sail between the sandbanks.

  • Average temperature: About 24–30°C / 75–86°F.
  • Good to know: Boat transfers run from Vilankulo on the mainland; the islands are a protected park.
