BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Good to know.

Which airport should I use?

Use Talara (TYL) for the shortest road transfer among nearby commercial airports. Check flight options before booking.

Is it good for swimming?

It depends on the flags and surf. Stay away from the board and boat areas, and ask locally for the safest section.

Is the beach step-free?

The central approach is short, but its surface and the transition to loose sand vary. Check your entrance before bringing wheels.

Can I see whales year-round?

Humpbacks pass the northern coast seasonally. Check the current season and use an authorized operator.

Do I need a car?

You can walk the central area. Taxis or mototaxis can cover the shorter coastal trips, and a licensed transfer works for the airport.
